I am a senior video editor with over 25 years’ experience in news and current affairs production. Working in STV’s newsrooms since 2001, I have contributed to the coverage of major Scottish news stories and delivered high-quality content across fast turnaround news, documentaries, mid and long-form features for broadcast and online platforms.
I have extensive experience in Avid Media Composer, storytelling and narrative editing, colour grading, sound mixing and programme delivery. I work closely with journalists, producers and production teams to shape stories under demanding deadlines while maintaining high editorial and technical standards.
As a senior member of the team, I support the development of newsroom workflows, train journalists and production staff, and contribute to technology projects that improve efficiency and consistency across production operations.

· STV News at Six: Editing fast turnaround news content and high-profile features, creating visual treatments and polishing journalists’ edits to broadcast standard. Responsibilities include refining structure and pacing where required, enhancing picture and sound choices, and ensuring content meets high editorial and technical standards under demanding deadlines.
· Scotland Tonight: Editing long mid and long-form features to a high standard, using music and video effects where suitable, and being responsible for the final sound mix and colour grading.
· Offline & Online editor for STV News Production programmes with responsibilities for media management, online edit, colour grading, preparing the programme for sound dub and delivery of the final programme to DPP specifications.
· Magazine Shows - The Hour (2009 – 2011) and The Five Thirty Show (2008 – 2009)

· Front end administration of the Avid production system.

· Responsible for the ingest of incoming feeds to the newsroom, transfer of material between STV's newsrooms in Scotland, organising material for playout to other broadcasters and helping ensure reporters' sequences were transferred to studio servers in time to meet deadlines.
· I have worked in the News Traffic area for almost every election and referendum since 2007 with responsibilities for recording multiple SNG and line feeds, ensuring good media management and highlighting best material to production teams.
· Basic vision mixing training and gained experience of programming macros and mixing live programmes. I have a basic knowledge of studio operations including playout and robotic camera operation.

LTV was one of the local television stations made possible by the Broadcasting Act (1996). It started broadcasting in June 1999 to the Lanarkshire area and stopped operating in November 2001. Responsibilities within the small news team included: linear editing of news reports, live gallery production assistant responsible for timings and caption generator operation, newsroom administration, maintaining the tape library and training others in editing and the role of production assistant.
